City of Huntington Beach, CA is Hiring a RECREATION LEADER Near Huntington, CA

This is Part Time, Non Permanent position
Here in Huntington Beach, we believe passionately that the key to becoming the best beach City in the world starts and ends with finding the right people to join our team. At this time, we have outstanding opportunities available, as we're looking for the "right people" to serve as Recreation Leader for Adventure Playground with the Community and Library Services Department.
Please Note: Vacancies for these positions occur sporadically. The hiring department will contact applicants as needed.
Current vacancies are at the Adventure Playground in Huntington Central Park.
Ideal candidates must possess effective and cooperative communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to relate to a diverse group of people.
Hours worked per week may vary and may include evenings and weekends.
Temporary/part-time employment is restricted to 1,000 hours within a 12-month period (July 1 – June 30) and does not qualify to receive City benefits, except those required by law. The City does not belong to the Social Security system. However, enrollment in an alternative retirement program is mandatory which requires an employee contribution of 7½% of base earnings to the Public Agency Retirement System (PARS). There are no rights to employment and employment may end with or without cause or advance notice. Further restrictions apply to CalPERS Retired Annuitants.

Examples of Essential Duties

Under supervision, assists in planning, promoting and implementing of Adventure Playground programs; assists in collection of donations of materials and prepares sites for daily activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience: Some high school and previous experience or related training required. Volunteer service or school-related experience is accepted and should be reflected in the application.
Certifications:

  • CPR/First Aid Certificates must be obtained within three months of appointment.

The SALARY RANGE is composed of seven steps. Merit step increases are based on satisfactory performance.
PROMOTIONS within the City are based upon the merit system principles emphasizing individual ability and utilizing competitive examinations.
CREDIT UNION membership is available to all City employees and provides access to low interest loans.
